Front- to- Back

When I saw this dress, I knew I wanted to turn the dress around and make the front, the back:

Shiny Blue

Another beautiful dress I picked up:

I loved the color and the silky fabric- but the length, shoulder pads, and ruffle layer around the middle... not so much.

2 for 1!

This dress was a no brainer for me. I knew the botom half could be made into a skirt, and the top half just took me awhile to decide on.

Extra Flower Time

I loved the flowers on this dress! Yes it's way bright and scary as is, but I knew I could tame it down. It had huge shoulder pads and came with a matching belt.

Here's a close up of what the fabric looks like:

Maternity Dress Makeover

I saw this dress in the store and knew exactly what to do to it! Only when I checked the label did I find out that it was originally a maternity dress... it had cords on the side to tie in back and buttons going down the front.

Liz Clairborne

Yes, this was originally a Liz Clairborne creation.... it's amazing how fashion changes! When I saw this dress, I immediately loved the buttons- but the rest of it reminded me of a politician's dress from way back when.

My First Attempt at Tailoring

As I started getting more into fixing up thrift store dresses, I got a lot of requests from friends to create an outfit for them. Since my awesome friend Ellie was getting dragged to thrift stores a lot with me (I take forever when looking around), she picked herself out a dress and I got to work on it!

More Flowers...

I got this outfit on the same day as the brightly flowered one- but I did not realize it was a jumper!

Flower Power!

This dress stood out to me because of the bright colors and the flowers:
I know, very scary looking as is. Shoulder pads, floor length, and a layer of extra fabric around the neck and the hip. But I knew what I wanted to do with it the moment I saw it!

Lumberjack

I found this dress and loved the plaid! It's not flannel, so no Brawny man outfit will be coming from this.

A Banana Republic Mistake

As the title says, this beauty was originally made by Banana Republic:

A Tweed Disaster

This was my first project ever:
It had a black and brown tweed top. The vest was only attached at the shoulders, then would tie around the waist in the back. Add in the floor length black skirt bottom and shoulder pads and you've got yourself a scary elementary school teacher outfit!

My New Hobby

As it says in the About Me section, I was so inspired by the New Dress A Day blog that I wanted to put my own ideas to use. I loved the idea of buying vintage dresses and recreating them into something modern and fashionable. It's become a bit of an obsession now, one that I definitely use as a procrastination device when avoiding my school work. I figured that it was time to start sharing my creations on something other than Facebook and get opinions and feedback. I'll upload all of my previous creations, then start adding my new additions. Hope everyone enjoys it!
